Friends of Patapsco Valley - Spring Clean up

WHEN: Sunday, March 29, 2009
WHERE: CCBC, Catonsville Campus
TIME: 12:45 pm to register. We begin promptly at 1 pm – 4 pm!

IMPORTANT: In the event of rain, call before you leave at 410-480-0824 to insure the event has not been cancelled.

WHERE TO PARK: In Parking Lot 3. Go to http://www.ccbcmd.edu/directory/cat/camp_map.html for a campus map. If you are using Google map, put in the GPS coordinates of 39.255768, -76.736927 which is pretty close to Parking Lot 3.

WHERE TO REGISTER: Look for Parking Lot 3 on campus, and signs to direct you to the registration area in Parking Lot 3.

WHAT TO BRING:

- Comfortable clothes with long sleeves and pants and waterproof shoes
- Used plastic grocery bags (for trash pickup and to REUSE them!)
- Shovels, wheelbarrows & garden clippers for invasives (please mark your name on it in case it is misplaced)

Any volunteers under 16 must be supervised by an adult volunteer. If we get enough volunteers, we will clean the stream throughout the entire campus property!

DIRECTIONS:

From Route 95
Take Exit 47A-47B for State Highway 166 North
Merge onto I-195 West
Stay to your right, past the exit to UMBC, away from the park and ride parking lot.
Turn right at MD-166/S. Rolling Road
Travel approximately 8/10 mile
Turn LEFT at the traffic light into the CCBC – Catonsville Campus
When you get into the campus, bear right onto Campus Drive to parking lot 3 – look for signs to direct you to the registration area.

The Friends of the Patapsco Valley and Heritage Greenway, Inc. is a non-profit membership organization that treasures the Patapsco Valley and is working to preserve, protect and interpret its historic, natural and cultural resources. FPVHG sponsors stream clean-ups, bike rides, kayaking, tree planting and mulching, trail maintenance and the Garlic Mustard Challenge, which is a weed-pulling and picnic event held the first Sunday in May.

WOW!!! What an amazing job! I couldn't make it yesterday due to work but while I was out for a ride today I kept coming across the big piles of trash collected by all the volunteers yesterday. I've said this before but it's worth saying again,
VOLUNTEERS ROCK!!!
