(Baltimore, MD)— In an effort to expand its Palliative Care Services and strengthen its HOPE Palliative Care Services Program, Saint Agnes Hospital has hired Kimberly Barrett to serve as Director of Palliative Care Services. Kimberly comes to Saint Agnes with a history in medical social work, most recently working at Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park, Maryland. In her new role as Director of Palliative Care Services, Kimberly will be responsible for the design and implementation of palliative care services at Saint Agnes Hospital. She will also oversee the HOPE Palliative Care Services Program. This two-part program is composed of Beds for End-of Life-Care Services, a 2 bed pilot program for patients who have an estimated prognosis of less than 24-72 hours, and a counseling program. HOPE Palliative Care Counseling Services program offers psycho-social care, provided by Loyola College pastoral counseling students. As director of the HOPE Palliative Care Team Kimberly will assist in the development, execution and evaluation of HOPE Palliative Care Services Programs, oversee the case management of patients enrolled in the HOPE Counseling Services and provide clinical supervision to HOPE counseling students. Kimberly is “looking forward to being part of the HOPE Palliative Care Team at Saint Agnes Hospital. The team is committed to a comfort care approach that is compassionate and dignified.” Saint Agnes Hospital is a 307-bed hospital founded by the Daughters of Charity in 1862. Saint Agnes is a full service teaching hospital with residency programs in a number of medical and surgical specialties.
